Thumbs up from York residents for damp and mould training

EN:Able Communities were delighted by the positive feedback from Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT)’s  residents who enjoyed their latest damp and mould condensation training course.  The training was held at New Earswick community folk hall in York at the beginning of November.

The course, supported by the NOCN Group online course, is designed to help residents identify the causes of damp and mould issues, and hacks to both prevent and treat it to help them maintain a healthier living environment.

Residents who attended the workshop said:

“The visual and practical demonstration of how much water is generated [in the home] was very effective.”

“I will be more mindful of where things are placed around my home.”

“I will ventilate all rooms more and reduce condensation as much as possible.”

“I have more understanding of the causes and effects [of damp and mould].”

Amy Somerville, Retrofit Programme Manager at Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust said: “It has been a pleasure collaborating with EN:Able Communities to develop the Keeping Your Home Warm and Dry pilot.  At Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, we are committed to providing residents with homes that are decent, safe, energy-efficient, and affordable.  This collaboration has helped to empower our residents with practical knowledge and skills to create healthier and more comfortable homes.”

Lee Parkinson, chief executive of Efficiency North, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust to deliver this training for residents. Everyone in the social housing sector knows the pernicious impact that damp and mould in the home can have on the health and wellbeing of its inhabitants. JRHT has a long-standing reputation of working closely with tenants and communities. This is another example of how they strive to do their very best to provide high quality and safe housing their tenants are proud to call home.”
