PROJECT OVERVIEW

EN:Able Warmer Homes, in collaboration with other organisations, is striving to retrofit 27 million homes by 2050. This is part of the wider effort by Efficiency North’s membership of social housing providers to achieve Net Zero targets.

The Sheffield LEAD partnership, led by EN:Able Warmer Homes, has been awarded £257,000 of funding from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero in August 2023. The funding is designated to help retrofit Right To Buy (RTB) properties for enhanced sustainability. The consortium, comprising of Efficiency North (led through EN:Able Warmer Homes), Sheffield City Council and Groundwork (Yorkshire), plans to use this fund to conduct retrofit assessments for 184 RTB properties across 8 estates in Sheffield. In addition, they will offer advice on necessary energy efficiency measures.

PROJECT GOALS & TARGETS

Sheffield LEAD has set several targets:

  • Sheffield LEAD has set several targets:

  • Providing advice on implementing energy efficiency measures as needed.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Sheffield LEAD opts for an innovative approach of whole estate regeneration, aiming to foster greater community cohesion. They plan to extend the same level of assistance to RTB residents across all estates. This approach ensures that a significant percentage of residents, who would typically miss out on the energy efficiency measures implemented on council-owned properties, can now avail detailed energy advice and be directed to various energy efficiency measures for their homes.

With the Sheffield LEAD project, we’re on an exciting journey to retrofit 27 million homes by 2050. This initiative extends beyond energy efficiency—it’s about fostering community cohesion and building a sustainable future.
