OUR EVOLUTION
HUMBER CONSTRUCTION HUB
With Department for Education funding delivered by CITB, EN:Able Futures established the Humber Construction Hub in 2019 to provide on-site training in a real building site environment.
EN:ABLE BUILD
In May 2018 Efficiency North established EN:Able Build, an innovative not-for-profit company which aims to accelerate the delivery of affordable new-build housing schemes in the region by facilitating the building of projects that might have otherwise been delayed or not developed at all, and bring forward sites with developed infrastructure and serviced plots for self-build customers and SMEs.
EN:ABLE FUTURES
Futureworks Yorkshire CIC was established in 2014 as a shared apprenticeship service delivering a new provision which took the risk and work out of employing an apprentice, allowing contractors, its hosts, to concentrate on their business. In 2017 they merged with Efficiency North and was renamed EN:Able Futures CIC. It became a subsidiary of Efficiency North Holdings Ltd and was now able to additionally provide a shared apprenticeship service to its members alongside its other clients.Â
EN:PROCURE
In 2017 Efficiency North Limited was made an operating subsidiary company of Efficiency North Holdings Limited changing its name to EN:Procure Limited.
EN:ABLE COMMUNITIES
Efficiency North Limited established a Charitable Incorporated Organisation called EN:Able Communities registered in England and Wales in August 2015 to support implementation of the consortium’s social value strategy.
EFFICIENCY NORTH INCORPORATED
In 2014 Efficiency North was incorporated as a private company in public sector ownership, limited by guarantee, with no share capital. As Efficiency North Limited the company continued to serve its membership of registered providers representing over two thirds of social housing located within Yorkshire and the Humber.
MERGING INTERESTS
In 2007, the consortium expanded into the Yorkshire & Humber Housing Construction Best Practice Forum by merging with West Yorkshire and Humber Landlords. In 2008, it grew further as landlords from beyond South Yorkshire joined, forming Efficiency 4 North. In 2009, Y&H HCBPF and Efficiency 4 North merged to become Efficiency North.
EXCITING EXPANSION
In 2022 Efficiency North moved into its current office, Collaboration Works, designed to suit their post-pandemic agile working model. In the same year, EN:Able Futures was appointed to the government register of Flexi-job apprenticeship agencies and expanded its services into the North East.
TRAILBLAZING BEGINNINGS!
Efficiency North was one of three original trailblazing social housing consortia in the UK who first accessed the ODPM Efficiency Challenge Fund in June 2005. The ODPM funds supported the set up of a Pathfinder Scheme involving 4 South Yorkshire Councils and 4 South Yorkshire ALMOs.
