DAMP, CONDENSATION AND MOULD WORKSHOPS

Our damp, condensation and mould awareness workshops provide practical knowledge and advice to help social housing residents identify, prevent and manage common issues in their homes. Through interactive sessions, residents learn about the causes of damp and mould, how to reduce condensation, and effective ways to maintain a healthier living environment.

Workshops are designed not only to improve home conditions but also to promote independence and well-being, giving residents the tools they need to take control of their living spaces. Delivered in partnership with housing providers, they also foster stronger community relationships and shared learning experiences.

Since 2023 we’ve worked with Efficiency North’s members to deliver training workshops tailored to their needs for tenants, residents and staff online, on site in offices and community halls, and as part of tenant conference events.  We also work with companies and community organisations to deliver training workshops for their staff and people they support both online and on site and can support private landlords with damp and mould training for staff and tenants.

Thank you on behalf of Equans for your excellent delivery of the damp, mould and condensation workshops. The interactive sessions were engaging and enlightening for both myself and my Equans colleagues and have provided us with the tools to not only prevent these issues in our own homes but also to support others in damp, mould and condensation prevention in their homes.

Juliet Bennett | Customer Care Manager, EQUANS

As a company Alan Wood & Partners have a number of Surveyors going into all types of properties and the Damp, Condensation and Mould Bitesize Workshop was very beneficial to them. Being able to have these mini workshops is helpful to the Business and for the health and wellbeing of our staff.

Alison Ringrose | Business Development Manager, Alan Wood & Partners

Thanks to Simeon for delivering the damp, mould, and condensation course to us. The information was really clear and gave us all food for thought, both in a work and personal context. I for one will be making small changes to improve my home and personal health as a result of the course. I am interested to see how the new clauses present themselves and hopefully, the positive changes they will bring about for those in social and privately rented accommodation.

Rebecca Caunce | Corporate Responsibility Manager, Galliford Try Building North

Harrogate College wanted to say thank you for the delivery of the recent Mould and Condensation training session. The participants found the session interesting and useful. Teachers will now include the content within their curriculum areas as part of our commitment to embedding sustainability in to the course content. The participants were also able to apply the knowledge taught to their home lives, myself in particular talking to the family about closing bathroom doors and leaving bath mats on the floor!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT WORKING WITH US

“It has been a pleasure collaborating with EN:Able Communities to develop the Keeping Your Home Warm and Dry pilot.

At Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, we are committed to providing residents with homes that are decent, safe, energy-efficient, and affordable.  This collaboration has helped to empower our residents with practical knowledge and skills to create healthier and more comfortable homes.

We are keen to continue creating and providing resources and materials that enable staff, residents, and community partners to work collaboratively to ensure homes are safe, healthy, and free from condensation, damp, and mould.”

Amy Somerville | Retrofit Programme Manager, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust

“The visual and practical demonstration of how much water is generated [in the home] was very effective.”

“I will ventilate all rooms more and reduce condensation as much as possible”

“The NOCN course was very informative”

Keeping tenants safe is our number one priority, and we were delighted to have the opportunity to offer places to Berneslai Homes tenants on the training session hosted by Efficiency North. The focus was on empowering tenants to proactively identify, prevent, and tackle damp-related problems. During the training tenants were shown how to identify the signs of damp and condensation at an early stage, and what practical steps to take to prevent further issues such as ventilation, heating, and good housekeeping, which was the perfect complement to our existing ‘STAR’ campaign for tenants.

Arturo Gulla | Executive Director of Property Services, Berneslai Homes

“I’ve been implementing everything into my everyday life – I always open my blinds at the window and make sure to let in the daylight to warm the room up and open doors and windows. One important thing I learnt is that not heating the house properly, because of the cost of rising energy bills, actually does more harm than good. Now, I keep my heating on a low temperature constantly – rather than knocking the thermostat up and down all the time – that’s helped massively. I’ve not seen any signs of the mould coming back since the workshop.”
