EN:Able Communities were pleased to join tenants of Rykneld Homes, Chesterfield District Council and Bolsover District Council for their second annual Joint Involved Tenant Conference at Chesterfield FC SMH stadium on Wednesday 14 May. Keynote speaker Louise Holt, Head of Membership Services at TPAS England, gave an update on the evolving landscape of tenant engagement and its influence on the Regulator’s grading of social housing providers.
EN:Able Communities Head of Operations Simeon Perry was delighted to present interactive workshop ‘Your Home, Your Health’, one of three of the conference’s informative workshops. The session was packed with information about the causes and effects of damp and mould, a quiz, and practical tips for small changes tenants could make around their homes to address condensation and mould to maintain a healthier living environment. All participants were provided with a list of tips they could share with their families, friends, neighbours and community groups.
The response from tenants was very positive and appreciative. Their observations included; ”very informative and easy to understand”; “more information than I expected, I was amazed – makes you realise your lifestyle”; and “really useful session, lots of small changes could make a big difference.”
Simeon Perry said: “We were honoured to attend such a superb event and experience such successful tenant engagement and involvement, achieved through the collaboration of three North East Derbyshire social housing providers. Everyone in the social housing sector is aware of the pernicious impact that damp and mould in the home can have on the health and wellbeing of its occupants. This is a great example of how the councils strive to do their best to engage tenants and provide high quality and safe housing their tenants are proud to call home.”
