Feeling the warmth at Hull Community Hubs

Chair Pauline Davis and EN:Able Communities Head of Operations Simeon Perry receive a warm welcome from local communities at hubs EN:Procure supported through Hull City Council’s Winter Warmth Community Grants scheme

Richard Greenwood's Vision For Expansion

Efficiency North, alongside Fortem Solutions, donated to Hull City Council’s Winter Warmth Community Grants scheme, a vital scheme to support residents to stay warm and well over the winter. Our support provided warm spaces, activities and a community food pantry, as well as handing out slow cookers and heated blankets supplied through the initiative’s funding.

On 28th March Efficiency North’s Independent Chair Pauline Davis and Head of EN:Able Communities Simeon Perry,  alongside representatives from Fortem Solutions who also funded this vital initiative, visited three of the Hull Community Hubs that recieved funding.

Pauline, who retired from her role as Deputy Chief Executive and Corporate Director of Regeneration at Hull City Council in 2014, was especially delighted to visit the groups located at St Alban’s Church, Bodmin Rd Church and Oasis Church Hull to see how they were having a positive impact in their communities..

All community centres have been playing a vital role in helping local residents through the energy and cost of living crises, offering not only warm spaces but also activities and a community food pantry, as well as handing out the slow cookers and heated blankets supplied before Christmas through the initiative’s funding.

One older local tenant and regular visitor to St Alban’s warm hub lives on his own and uses the heated blanket that was given to him through the scheme to keep warm instead of heating his house, which is unaffordable for him.

Pauline Davis, Independent Chair, Efficiency North said:“It’s great to see EN:Procure’s Social Value Credits scheme delivering real value for members. These are fantastic projects in Hull doing amazing work within their communities to support people with food, warmth and social activities.”
