Estate transformation as work continues on 70 new affordable homes

First of 70 new homes on the Whiteleas development in North Wingfield close to completion

New photos show the progress being made on 70 new social homes – and how close some are to completion.

The Whiteleas development in North Wingfield is being developed by Rykneld Homes and Vistry.

Images and video have been taken ready for listings as some of the bungalows are almost ready to let.

The majority of the properties, a mix of two, three and four-bed houses, and two-bed bungalows will be managed by Rykneld Homes, on behalf of North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC).

New tenants are expected to move into some of the properties by the end of July. The whole scheme is set for completion by summer 2025.

Helen Brown, Head of Regeneration and Development, said: “Whiteleas is an excellent example of regenerating our estates, building where our customers want to live, and creating much needed homes.

“The latest photos show just how much progress has been made and how we’re getting closer to being able to welcome customers into the new homes.

“The site is another step towards us achieving our target of adding 400 homes to our stock by 2027.

Councillor Nigel Barker, leader of NEDDC, added: “It’s great to see the progress being made and the pace at which this site is developing.

“Things are moving forward and we are providing much-needed social homes for people living in North East Derbyshire.”

Rykneld Homes has worked directly with Vistry to develop the site. The partnership came through Efficiency North’s EN:Procure framework for new build housing.

Emma Mottram, director of operations at EN:Procure said: “Our new build frameworks are developed to ensure efficient, reliable procurement is accessible for members delivering affordable housing. It’s fantastic to see Rykneld Homes’ Whiteleas scheme progressing so well and already providing essential affordable housing for the North Derbyshire area and with added value around sustainability.”
