EN:Able Communities welcomes two new trustees

Charity appoints retrofit specialists to help steer charity's future development

EN:Able Communities were delighted to welcome two new trustees and formally appoint them to the board at their quarterly meeting in March.

Suzi Blakley-Taylor works within the EWI division at Sika UK Ltd, a company providing solutions for concrete repairs, roofing, flooring and waterproofing to the construction industry. Suzi has worked in construction for over 23 years, always within the EWI market, having begun her career in administration initially before progressing to more senior positions.  Suzi has also been a board member of Insulated Render and Cladding Association (INCA) for the past 2.5 years and is currently its Treasurer.

Andrew Champ is Executive Director of not-for-profit Solid Wall Insulation Guarantee Agency (SWIGA) and has extensive experience in the retrofit sector.  In his role at SWIGA Andrew has developed quality processes in the application of solid wall and other insulation measures to improve outcomes for residents.  He has written many of the training standards for insulation-based fabric first applications including external wall, internal wall and Park homes.  He is a representative on the working group for the retrofit PAS standards with the Department for Energy & Net Zero (DESNZ),  and supports Scottish and Welsh governments on retrofit standards and skills-based training.

Suzi Blakley-Taylor said, “I am delighted to have been appointed as a Trustee of EN:Able Communities. The work that EN:Able carry out in supporting the tenants and residents of Efficiency North’s social housing provider membership, helps to reduce fuel poverty and also helps them to live a healthier, more comfortable life in warmer homes. Alleviating fuel poverty is something that I am passionate about, and I am grateful to be able to play an active part in this.

Andrew Champ said, “I look forward to working with EN:Able Communities on their charitable work in the retrofit sector. They are a forward-thinking organisation whose work supports local Authorities in the North. With so much work required to be delivered in a relatively short space of time, EN:Able are ideally placed to understand the local needs and provide services and solutions to assist with that delivery.”

EN:Able Communities Chair Ken Taylor said; “I very much look forward to working with Andrew and Suzi.  Their experience, skills and knowledge will be invaluable to ensure we deliver effective support for social mobility and social housing decarbonisation targets within local communities served by Efficiency North’s membership. They will be a great asset to support the charity through this exciting phase in its development.”
