THE CHALLENGE
Unity Homes & Enterprise Housing Association contacted EN:Procure seeking a reliable contractor to deliver responsive, voids and planned repairs work. Their current contract was coming to an end, and they were looking for a contractor who understood the requirements of the service, had substantial experience, could ‘hit the ground running’, were able to provide a partnering approach, and were based nearby geographically.
THE OUTCOME
Equans had all these attributes and more and were the perfect choice.
This was an ideal opportunity to utilise EN:Procure’s Gen 4 framework for Installation, Servicing, Maintenance and Repair Works through Lot 7A. Because of tight timescales and the need for quality dialogue to ensure a smooth transition to the new provider, Equans were appointed via direct selection with a contract of 5 years + 2 +2.
In the first year of the contract the dedicated 17-strong team delivered c5,500 repairs and voids works worth c£1.45m taking 25,449 working hours, with zero incidents or accidents.
We were very happy with the support EN provided on this tender, ensuring everything was in place to effectively mobilise the contract on time.”

ADDED SOCIAL VALUE
As part of the ESG unit outputs embedded in the contract, Equans have delivered a programme of careers engagement and community-focused activities which have had a positive impact for local residents, achieving a total social value of £518.60k in year 1.
They attended careers events at Temple Moor High School & Sixth Form and Dixons Unity Academy, supporting 144 students to develop their awareness of employment pathways, providing direct interaction with industry professionals and helping to build confidence, aspiration, and understanding of future opportunities. Social Value Officer Courtney Ward also delivered an interview preparation workshop to electrical students at Leeds College of Building.
Equans also attended two employer fairs at HMP Leeds, supporting individuals in custody to explore employment opportunities and pathways.
Equans have so far given 5 young people work experience opportunities in connection with this contract, in plumbing, electrical and social value.
The Equans Eco Programme, delivered in partnership with Unity Housing, included the donation of two, eight-yard skips to the value of £421.36 by LSS Waste Management. In July 2025 volunteers helped clear up the area, fix broken gates and assisted residents with rubbish removal. A further donation of skips in August 2025 enabled the removal of fly-tipping. In total, the Equans team contributed 36 volunteering hours to improving the local environment, supporting residents with waste removal, and enhancing communal spaces.
Equans team members also volunteered with local food bank FareShare Leeds, contributing 28 volunteering hours to food redistribution efforts, directly supporting vulnerable individuals and families.
Thank you to EN:Procure for facilitating the successful contract award to Equans through their the new EN Procure framework (GEN4). We have a long-standing and very successful relationship with EN:Procure, and this latest collaborative approach enables us to deliver high-quality responsive, voids and planned repairs works for Unity Homes & Enterprise and their customers. We are extremely happy with the support from EN and most importantly their commitment to provide an excellent service throughout.”
