We are delighted to announce that EN:Procure and Riverlution with Hull City Council and Caddick Construction have been nominated as finalists for the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Social Impact Award for the establishment of the Humber River Stewardship Partnership.
This recognition celebrates the power of collaboration through intelligent procurement to drive environmental improvement, community engagement, and long term stewardship of our waterways.
EN:Procure provided seed funding as a catalyst for social enterprise Riverlution to kickstart the new River Stewardship Partnership in the Humber region, modelled on their successful Sheffield prototype.
The £30,000 was secured through Hull City Council’s appointment of Caddick Construction through EN:Procure’s new build framework to deliver the Isledane scheme — 34 new, affordable, energy-efficient social homes in the Orchard Park area of Hull. The framework provided a structured mechanism to align the project’s added social value focus with local needs, creating high-quality employment pathways and broader social and environmental impact.
The Humber River Stewardship Partnership is now improving the local environment and flood resilience in the UK’s second most flood-vulnerable city through hands-on conservation, training, volunteering, and community engagement. The Partnership helps people of all ages reconnect with local rivers and waterways, with Riverlution fostering shared ownership and responsibility among volunteers and school students — supporting wellbeing, learning, and long-term climate resilience.
Waterway conservation with local volunteers is increasing flood resilience in a city that is 90% below sea level and among the top 10% most deprived in the UK. Involving people of all ages in conservation is reconnecting communities with their local environment and improving health and wellbeing.
We look forward to meeting all the other finalists at the Awards evening on 4 June.
