Cheers to 20 years

This year Efficiency North are proudly celebrating our 20th anniversary.

What began in August 2006 as a pioneering South Yorkshire collaboration between four local authorities and four ALMOs has grown into one of the region’s leading procurement, development and social value organisations, supporting members, communities and supply chains across Yorkshire, the Humber and beyond.

Over the last two decades, we’ve worked through recessions, housing reforms, Brexit, the Covid-19 pandemic, the retrofit revolution and changing procurement legislation, always staying focused on a simple mission: delivering value, efficiency and positive impact for our members and communities.

From our beginnings supporting the Decent Homes Programme and creating jobs through Construction Job Match, to investing millions in local communities, delivering social value, championing apprenticeships and helping members navigate major sector challenges, our story has always been one of collaboration.

Today, with frameworks approaching a quarter of £1billion in annual programme value, Efficiency North continues to evolve while remaining true to the principles that inspired our creation twenty years ago: partnership, innovation and making every pound work harder for people and places.

Chief Executive Lee Parkinson commented:

“As we celebrate twenty years of Efficiency North, it’s important to reflect on the journey that’s brought us here. The Greek philosopher Bias of Priene observed that a good person should remember the past, act in the present and safeguard the future. That sentiment perfectly captures what Efficiency North has sought to do throughout its history.

We’re proud of our roots and the achievements made possible through the vision, commitment and collaboration of our members, partners, board directors, colleagues and supply chains. At the same time, our focus remains firmly on the challenges and opportunities facing communities today, helping our members deliver greater value, social impact and sustainable outcomes.

As we look ahead, our responsibility is not simply to build on past success, but to create lasting benefits for future generations through innovation, investment and partnership. The foundations laid over the last twenty years give us confidence and ambition for the next twenty.”

Thank you to our members, board directors, colleagues, contractors, stakeholders and community partners who have been part of the journey.  Hear the story of how the original procurement consortium was established from our founder Jed Turner in this short video.

Here’s to the next chapter of the Efficiency North story.
