EN:Connect Procurement & Supply Chain Management

Tuesday 11th April 2023 -  9:30am - 11am

Financial Risk Management

Hosted by EN:Procure Director of Operations Emma Mottram who'll be joined by James Leather, Senior Project Manager at Michael Dyson Associates, a family run, established multi-disciplinary construction consultancy providing a comprehensive range of professional services to public and private sector clients.

Discussion focus

In the first-quarter of 2023 a total of 83 construction companies fell into administration/insolvency, this only being beaten by the 90 business collapses recorded in Q1 2020. The current economic situation, supply chain pressures, chronic shortages of both skilled and unskilled labour inflation and typically low-margin and/or fixed price contracts present a complex mix of challenges for Contractor/Supplier. As a result contractor financial risk mitigation comes into greater focus

James will share his experience of managing several new build projects that have been affected by the recent Tolent demise, including actions available under the contract, dealing with Administrators and re-procurement options/strategies

There will then be an open conversation led by Emma about various strategies to try to mitigate contractor financial risk, including strategies that the framework utilise in relation to our framework contractors and suppliers.
