EN:Connect ESG

EN:Connect ESG

Wednesday 9th August 2 - 3pm

Following on from our first session covering the origins of ESG and its place in the supply chain, during this session we will look more closely at how ESG is shaping up in the social housing sector and how our Members are responding to the requirements relating to ESG set by the Housing Regulator.

Sustainability for Housing (SfH) is a company limited by guarantee and run by a voluntary board that is responsible for the development, promotion and strategic direction of the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing (SRS). The SRS was launched in November 2020 and is a voluntary reporting framework, covering 48 criteria across ESG considerations such as affordability, carbon emission and energy efficiency, safety, equality, diversity and inclusion and resident voice.

It was set up in response to concerns that ESG investment in social housing was being inhibited by the absence of a common reporting standard. The belief is that the more widely the standard is adopted the stronger the sector’s voice will be, thereby attracting greater investment.

SfH’s Chair, Brendan Sarsfield, is the founding Chair of Sustainability for Housing. He has more than 20 years’ experience as a CEO in the social housing sector, including for Peabody where he led the organisation between 2017 and 2021. He works closely with wide range of registered social landlords in developing the SRS and its reporting infrastructure and engages frequently with the Housing Regulator in shaping ESG reporting standards in the sector.

Brendan will share with us further details about the SRS model, its use, progress to date and ESG’s place in the social housing sector’s regulatory framework.

We will then hear from Members of Efficiency North and how they have responded to the regulators requirements in respect of ESG and ways that Efficiency North can aid those efforts.
