EN:Able Futures wins prestigious SME Apprenticeship Employer of the Year

EN:Able Futures has won SME Apprenticeship Employer of the Year at the DfE Yorkshire and Humber regional Apprenticeship and Skills awards.

The awards, run by the Department for Education, recognise outstanding contributions to apprenticeship programs across every UK region.

In a ceremony held in York, EN:Able Futures was celebrated for its commitment to training and supporting apprentices, despite being a small organisation. The social enterprise has become a force in the field, focusing on creating apprenticeship opportunities in circumstances where traditional routes may be too challenging. Their Flexi-job Apprenticeship Service pairs apprentices with industry employers while providing ongoing mentorship and support through their Apprenticeship Managers.

Julie Deeley, Director of Operations at EN:ABle Futures said: “We are so incredibly proud of this achievement. It is justly deserved for such a dedicated small team who are constantly delivering high-quality, flexible apprenticeships. This recognition underscores our dedication to supporting future talent and helping to bridge the skills gap in the built environment sector and beyond, where traditional apprenticeships routes can be difficult to implement. Now on to the national awards!”

The award comes as part of the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2024, which celebrate excellence across the apprenticeship sector. The competition was fierce, with organisations from various sectors competing, but EN:Able Futures’ innovative approach to apprentice management and employer partnerships set them apart.

The award not only acknowledges EN:Able Futures’ role in shaping the future workforce but also highlights the growing need for initiatives that make industries like construction more inclusive and accessible.

With this latest recognition, EN:Able Futures continues to cement its place as a leading advocate for apprenticeships, driving positive change in the construction industry and beyond.

Having won a regional award, EN:Able Futures is now through to the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards final being held in London on 27th November.
