EN:Able Futures CIC has won the prestigious title of Construction Apprenticeship Employer of the Year at the Construction Apprenticeship Awards 2024.
The accolade comes as a testament to the organisation’s enduring commitment to breaking down barriers within the construction sector, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), while creating meaningful apprenticeship opportunities.
But this year’s ceremony was not only a celebration of EN:Able Futures as an organisation. Two of its apprentices were honored for their individual achievements. Lauren Raynor who is hosted by Alan Wood & Partners took home the award for Level 3 Construction Apprentice of the Year, while Liam Mansbridge, hosted by Termrim Construction was awarded the Level 4 Construction Apprentice of the Year. Their wins are a reflection of the personalised support system EN:Able Futures offers, where apprentices receive tailored mentoring and pastoral support, should they need, it to ensure success both in the workplace and in their academic pursuits.
Julie Deeley, Director of Operations said: “In the year that marks our 10th anniversary as a business it’s incredibly gratifying to be recognised and awarded for the work we do in creating new apprenticeship opportunities and helping to build incredible careers. To see our apprentices succeed at such a high level, like Lauren and Liam demonstrate the impact that apprenticeships have, not just for the individual but for the businesses and communities they work within.”
To complement the suite of three awards and sweeten the evening even more Amelia Johnson-Lynch also took home the award for L6 Construction Apprentice of the Year. Amelia started her career journey with EN:Able Futures in 2018 doing a Construction Maintenance Management Apprenticeship, showing once again how well Apprentices coming through EN:Able Futures progress in their careers and contribute significantly to the construction sector.

Operating as a not-for-profit social enterprise and a government-registered Flexi-job Apprenticeship Agency, EN:Able Futures employs apprentices directly, managing all HR and qualification responsibilities. This model allows host employers to focus solely on providing work experience, while the apprentices themselves benefit from a comprehensive support structure that includes one-on-one mentoring, career guidance, and academic assistance.
Lee Parkinson, Chief Executive, Efficiency North said: “These awards stand as proof of the significant contribution EN:Able Futures is making in the construction sector. Since its founding in 2013, and subsequently joining Efficiency North in 2017, EN:Able Futures has worked to address the critical skills gap in construction by directly employing apprentices and removing the administrative burdens that often prevent businesses from taking on young talent. The organisation’s innovative Flexi-job Apprenticeship model has allowed over 160 construction businesses to benefit from the program, ranging from small local contractors to major players like Termrim and BAM Construction.”
EN:Able Futures also recently won SME Apprentice Employer of the Year at the Yorkshire and Humber regional Apprenticeship and Skills awards organised by the Department for Education, and is through to the national final being held in London on 27th November.
