During a construction apprenticeship, you’ll gain practical experience every day. You’ll be receiving training in how to do the job, then applying the skills you’ve learned. You’ll be responding to challenges and making a difference to the company you are working with. This could be in practical trades such as bricklaying or joinery, getting stuck-into the real building and development of a range of different sites in housing or commercial builds. Other technical construction apprenticeships could see you working in an office, for example as a quantity surveyor, or being more responsible for site operations as a site supervisor. Another pathway could be working as a civil engineer designing the works to be undertaken. Construction is a diverse industry; you’ll get to see projects develop from start to completion from whichever angle you’re working. You will be able to say “ I played a part in creating that building”.
