Opportunity to grow your organisation’s Low Carbon Skills & Knowledge

Efficiency North is now working with Generation to grow businesses' Low Carbon trades

Following the Government agenda to support net zero transition and to stimulate new entrant green skills jobs, we are working with Generation.org to give businesses the opportunity to secure new young highly employable and motivated talent with the relevant base low carbon skills and knowledge.

These will be in one of the following trades, which will be determined subject to feedback and demand:

- L3 Apprentice Electrician (focused on solar and renewable technology)

- L3 Apprentice Low Carbon Heating (Heat Pump) installer

- Retrofit Support (Assessor/Advisor/Junior Coordinator)

- Solar PV installer

- Insulation installer

- Smart meter installer

Low Carbon Skills & Knowledge will be crucial to future business growth in net zero investment activity in the long term. Candidates will be put through a fully funded 400-hour profession-specific bootcamp, which will be based in Leeds.

Generation is currently evaluating for which specific entry-level job to design the bootcamp for launch in 2021. MORE INFORMATION HERE.

Please fill out this survey to register your interest in hiring for these roles.

Please take the 3 minutes required to share your plans and needs.  Employer input will be crucial in the profession choice as employers engaging now may have the chance to shape the programme specifically for their needs. This programme won’t happen without enough employer demand in the North/Yorkshire and Humber region and will likely end up elsewhere.

Decisions will be made in two weeks over whether there is sufficient regional employer demand for any of the above roles and in which region this bootcamp programme will be based (with a preference for the North).

CITB Building Skills for Net Zero Report

CITB issued a report on 15 March on Building Skills for Net Zero.  They have modelled the skills profile of the workforce needed to deliver Net Zero using data from the Climate Change Committee (CCC). This shows that by 2028, additional decarbonisation work will have created the demand for 86,000 construction project managers, 33,000 building envelope specialists and 59,000 plumbers and HVAC specialists.
