EN:Able Futures apprenticeships look beyond traditional training routes and provide an alternative path suited to those who are seeking a more ‘hands on’ style of learning.
Through our award-winning Shared Apprenticeship Service we employ apprentices for the full duration of their apprenticeship, making it easy for businesses that cannot commit to providing long-term employment, to benefit from having an apprentice and vice versa, enabling our apprentices to gain valuable experience that might not be available to them otherwise.
By placing our apprentices at host companies they learn predominantly through doing, working with real companies, in real teams, on real projects. All the while simultaneously learning the background academic theory during their college days.
Our mentor team give regular one-to-one mentoring to every apprentice, ensuring they can develop the skills and experience they need to be successful on their chosen career path.
Amelia Johnson-Lynch, Quantity Surveying Apprentice at Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, said: “I like being technical and doing something that involves thinking and problem solving. I want to inspire and encourage people like me to get into technical roles in construction, particularly women, as I believe there are so many benefits from working in this industry. I want to make a positive impact in the construction industry and act as a positive role model for young people. I am willing to push myself to make sure I achieve the best I can in my career and my life in general, to achieve my goal of becoming a respected professional in the construction industry.”
Working in partnership with Leeds College of Building, the EN:Able Futures Apprenticeship Academy is a specialist Professional and Technical Construction Academy that has been specifically designed to address the major skills shortages in the industry.
It provides a structured, industry led education programme, delivering a two-year Level 3 qualification with contractor led professional development, alongside professional mentoring to ensure that each apprentice receive fully rounded training and development tailored to their interests.
Working with developers like CEG and the many contractors they work with on large projects like Kirkstall Forge, EN:Able futures can provide a unique opportunity for young people who may not be sure about what they want to do after leaving school or sixth form. With the Academy they can try different disciplines and gain a broad knowledge that will help them hone their ideas about what they want to do in an industry that offers so many possibilities.
