Excellent results for Apprentices

EN:Able Futures apprentices earn high level of distinctions

The grades are in and EN:Able Futures apprentices have done very well with 173 out of 228 qualification units earning Distinctions. 88% of these apprentices gained Double Distinction or Double Distinction Stars, the highest possible grades.

One student who achieved a Double Distinction Star is Tommy Tasker, who has made such an impact with his host company Together Housing that they have offered him a five-year degree apprenticeship. Tommy’s line Manager, Alan Poxon said: ‘’Tommy has a very strong work ethic, and this is reflected in the quality of his work, punctuality and attendance.’’

Also hosted by Together Housing is Danya who has achieved a Double Distinction whilst working as a Property Services Apprentice and studying for her diploma in Level 3 Construction and the Built Environment at Leeds College of Building. Proving that working in construction offers equal opportunities for women she is looking forward to pursuing a career following in her dad and grandad’s footsteps, she said: “There are so many women who work in construction who do an amazing job. No job is just a man’s job. If anyone is thinking about signing up for a property service apprenticeship, I’d say go for it. It’s such a brilliant thing to do.”

Elliot Machin, who gained a Double Distinction Star, is an Apprentice Building Services Engineer who’s host company for the past two years has been NPS Leeds. Explaining some of the benefits of being employed and supported by EN:Able Futures whilst hosted by NPS Leeds he said: “All the staff at EN:Able Futures were very supportive of what you wanted to do and what to do next. At no point did they make you feel like a student, everyone was treated with respect. This has led me on to starting a Degree Level Apprenticeship with NPS Leeds who have been my host company throughout my employment with EN:Able Futures.”

Apprentices are not always hosted by just one company during their studies, the flexibility of EN:Able Futures apprenticeships means that several companies can host an apprentice at different times, enabling them to gain broader experience that helps them choose a career path suited to what they want to do.

Callum gained an impressive Double Distinction Star for his diploma grade and completed his NVQ after making his mark on the industry over the past two years working at Turner & Townsend, Ove Arup Group, WSP and finally Pierre Angulaire, he said: “Over the course of the two year apprenticeship I rotated every six months to a different company, so I not only got to work with a new team but I also working on a different aspect. I’ve done work in structural, cost management and civil engineering, so I got experience of a broader range of the construction industry before selecting one, which is one of the bonuses with doing this apprenticeship.”

Lee Parkinson, Chief Executive of Efficiency North, said: “Congratulations to all EN:Able Futures apprentices who have completed their studies this year, in what has been a very challenging and unprecedented time. I am delighted that so many have achieved such excellent grades and are moving onto the next stage of their exciting careers in construction.”
