EN:Able Communities partners with Huddersfield Business School

EN’s charitable arm partners with Huddersfield Business School to support students’ academic and business studies

EN:Able Communities is enjoying a recently established partnership with the Huddersfield Business School to support students’ academic and business studies.

In July 2022 EN:Able Communities (ENC) invited five students pursuing Masters degrees at the Huddersfield Business School, part of the University of Huddersfield, to evaluate the government Kickstart scheme through research and assessment of the charity's Gateway scheme.

They first presented their findings to the EN:Able Communities trustees board at their regular meeting on Thursday 8 September and then to their  tutors as part of their academic assessment at the University on 14 September, which ENC's Head of Operations Simeon Perry was delighted to attend.

After the students gave their presentation there was an opportunity to talk to them in more depth and gain further insight into what they had learned from the project and how this had helped with their personal career aims.

The students -  Abdulalim Abu Sayf, Anthonet Chinenye Okoroha, Babatunde Alabede, Babatunde Tope Balogun and Muqtadir Rahim – presented some insightful conclusions about the scheme as a whole and its limitations in supporting young people not in employment and education (NEETs).

This partnership with the Huddersfield Business School is the first of many that EN:Able Communities wishes to develop.

The charity is currently recruiting a graduate Training Co-ordinator through the university career portal. More information HERE

Head of Operations Simeon Perry commented; “I am really pleased that EN:Able Communities has begun this academic partnership with the University of Huddersfield. I very much look forward to this new collaboration further supporting the social mobility of people in West Yorkshire following the success of this initial student project.  I’d like to thank the students for all their hard work.  Their research and formal academic evaluation of the Kickstart gateway has added value to the charity.”

Hayley German, School Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes at Huddersfield Business School, said; “The Group Consultancy Project provides a fantastic opportunity for our postgraduate students to engage with and support a range of businesses. Through the project with EN:Able Communities, our Master’s students were able to develop the skills of being a professional consultant alongside the academic skill of research. It was wonderful to see students, client, and academics come together as students applied their learning in the real-world and presented meaningful recommendations and solutions back to EN:Able Communities. Huddersfield Business School looks forward to seeing the growth of this collaboration in the coming years.”
