What We Do
The annual programme of activities managed by Efficiency North's Project Manager include:
- Research Projects - developing specific projects in response to our Members requirements.
- Learning Events - exploring best practice approaches around our three core work streams and sharing them with our Members.
- Benchmarking Groups - developing benchmarking models and populating them with data from our Members to improve their understanding of cost and improve performance.
- Best Practice Publications - capturing best practice and developing White Papers, Toolkits and Case Studies which inform our Members and add to their service improvement plans.
- Collaborative Procurement - identifying and facilitating opportunities for regional and cross regional collaborative procurement projects improving the performance and efficiency of our Member organisations.
Efficiency North focuses its activities around four core work streams:
Strategic Partnerships
- How Strategic Partnerships have established good governnance and monitoring.
- How Strategic Partnerships have identified and agreed how efficiency savings / value for money within the partnership are monitored and measured.
- Guidance to employing the right resources in Strategic Partnerships to deliver Legal, Financial and Procurement expertise.
- How Strategic Partnerships ensure consistency.
- How relationships are fostered and maintained during the life of the Strategic Partnership.
- How to retain and build upon key resources.
- Explore opportunities for sharing resources through mentoring and secondments between Members.
Efficiency
- How to measure, monitor and record efficiency savings across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
- Development and population of benchmarking models for key elements of the Social Housing Construction / Decent Homes / Repairs and Maintenance programme.
- Considering the vehicles available for consortia procurement and applying them to Members Social Housing Construction / Decent Homes / Repairs and Maintenance programmes.
- Sharing specification best practice to improve cost performance.
- Share best practice in the development of whole life cycle costing approaches.
- Share best practice approaches to understanding cost and open book accounting arrangements with Contracting Partners.
- Capture and share the output of outsourcing arrangements for specific services.
Employment and Training
- Mapping of Employment and Training initiatives within Social Housing to improve understanding and application for Members.
- What benefits have been measured through the deployment of Employment and Training initiatives within Social Housing.
- Capturing best practice approaches to procurement and contract management that foster good approaches to Employment and Training in Social Housing.
- Identifying sources of funding that will resource Members Employment and Training initiatives.
- Sharing approaches best practice approaches to Equality and Diversity.
Climate Change
- Create a knowledge base on funding issues / access to grants.
- Collate research and provide a knowledge base on useful information / guidance / existing forums that relate to the growing environmental agenda etc.. This includes specification & use of sustainable products.
- Identify scale of funding gaps in D2D decisions and create opportunities for joint lobbying for additional support to close them.
- Review & build upon existing work on improving waste recycling to benefit wider membership.
- Facilitate projects with our Members that aim to impact upon Climate Change issues.
